Salad dressing? Dear English speakers are you okay? Why the hell are you dressing your salad
It's not like it will get cold or suffer from lack of the latest fashion trends
@rail_@bark.lgbt lmao what do you call it in polish?
@jiub literally what it is - salad sauce
@rail_@bark.lgbt that does make a lot more sense!
even worse, in at least US english "dressing" also means "stuffing" (e.g. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/19547/grandmas-corn-bread-dressing/)
which i found so confusing when i was a kid
@jiub fucking hell xD
@rail_@bark.lgbt english is pretty cursed ngl
@jiub let's not try to understand pronunciation rules in English xD
Let's not try to pretend there are any consistent rules
English has pronunciation anarchy
@rail_@bark.lgbt that's so true lol. i feel for anyone who has to learn this damn language after childhood
@jiub don't worry, I learned it through memes on the internet and YouTube creators with all sorts of accents
It's fun
@rail_@bark.lgbt ah, the practical approach :3
@jiub it was really silly in school
English teachers were pretty annoyed actually that my lazy ass studies nothing, can't explain grammar for shit but nails down everything else, lol
@rail_@bark.lgbt lmao i can see how they'd be annoyed
but that's exactly how it is for native english speakers especially after they've been out of school for a while. when i was still in college i helped out some ESL students a bit and i could often explain how to do things but not why. and i considered myself to be quite good at grammar at the time :3
